AFAIK, X240 does not support PCIe in the M.2 slot, only SATA. DevSleep would not be relevant for PCIe, only ASPM. I understand that you are using the M.2 SSD in addition, not instead, of the main one? And that's when the battery life suffers? I want to install an additional M.2 SSD to my X240. As far as I know, X240 has three M.2 port: - One single side M.2 for wireless card - One single side M.2 42 mm for WWAN (3G card). Mine is empty in this slot. One double side M.2 for cache drive. For M.2 cache drive, I dont know if my machine has it. I dont have smart card reader module either. I learnt that X240 has 2 slots for M.2 SSD. One is occupied by a 16GB SSD cache drive (this is what I find in my device manager) and the other is for WIFI card. I wanna replace the 16G SSD with a new SSD as windows drive, keep the HDD and upgrade to 8GB ram as 16GB is not supported. Technical Tip for X240 shows disk disabled due to fault on slots 4 to 7. Wireless-WAN card or M.2 solid-state drive,Wireless-WAN card or M.2 solid-state drive,Wireless-WAN card or M.2 solid-state drive,Wireless-WAN card or M.2 solid-state.

I got a few questions regarding upgrade of my X240. I learnt that X240 has 2 slots for M.2 SSD. I wanna replace the 16G SSD with a new SSD as windows drive, keep the HDD and upgrade to 8GB ram as 16GB is not supported.
My questions are:
1. Is it any 2242 m.2 SSD with be OK? Which model is crecommended? 128GB or 256GB?
2. Some said the slot is for cache drive only. Is it really OK use it for windows drive?Hi guys,
